I recently made my second appearance over at The Rye Whiskey Review, aka “the Ezine dedicated to all things barroom.”
Rye Whiskey is a very active site that typically publishes one to two dozen pieces per month, and they’ve been at it since 2018. It’s mostly bar/booze-themed poems, but also the occasional short story pops up on the site. Many thanks to Editor-in-Chief John Patrick Robbins for picking up “Spin Cycle,” as it had been previously published elsewhere.
Most literary journals and sites aren’t interested in previously published pieces, so I was thrilled that Rye Whiskey accepted them because this is probably my most obnoxious story—landing spots were already limited, even if it hadn’t previously appeared on a now-defunct site. As crude as this one can be in spots, I just loved the story, so I pretty much had one last shot at getting it out there, otherwise I probably would have eventually just posted it here.
But, please, if a crude R-rated story taking place in, ahem, more than one type of bar is your thing, do head on over to The Rye Whiskey Review to read “Spin Cycle.”
Here are the first couple of paragraphs if you’re looking for a little teaser before you head over:
