My story “Wrestling Ambitions” appears in Fiction on the Web, 21 August 2026. This is my third appearance over at Fiction on the Web, my first since “Nora Naughton” in October 2024. They also published my story “The Weird Family,” which has much more in common with this one in terms of tone and character … in fact, I think I may have recycled some of the same characters in this later story.
This story is about a group of young guys who return to their former high school to take in the local wrestling matches. At least one of them has ideas of becoming a pro wrestler himself, so he tries to inveigle his way into the scene with embarrassing results. This one features a lot of off-color language and gets a bit crude in spots. But, hey, it’s pro wrestling, right?

One of the fun parts of creating this story was coming up with the wrestler’s names—they are all fictional, but I think I cast them well.
