“Localized Corrosion” at Nude Bruce Review

This was my third time submitting to Nude Bruce Review, dating back to 2023, but this time I finally broke through with “Localized Corrosion.” I mean, c’mon, why wouldn’t I send stuff off to a place with a name like that – as long as everybody actually keeps their clothes on, it’s going to be fun, right? Nude Bruce Review has been around since 2012, so there’s some history there, and my story appears in issue #16.

This is a mainstream-literary story with no genre elements involved. The inciting incident is based on something I witnessed at my parents’ house years ago, when, inexplicably (to us), the oil tank sprung a leak. Hopefully, I succeeded in a visceral recall of some of those details!

I’m pretty sure this is the first story that I’ve placed featuring a female main character, which I only stop to pat myself on the back for because I recently finished a 60,000-word novel featuring a female protagonist – hopefully, this story is a positive sign that my imagination is capable of going there!
